Myth #1They're too young to train! You don't need to worry about training your puppy until they are older.
False! The earlier you get started creating a communication system with your dog, the easier your life with that dog is going to be.
The owners that start my puppy courses as soon as they come home tend to have the easiest dogs! That isn't a coincidence 😉. We start with puppies as soon as they come home--whether that's 8 weeks or 6 months! |
Myth #2Our dog is 5 months old, they're too old for puppy training.
False! Even though your puppy isn't 8 weeks anymore, that doesn't mean it's past the puppy training phase! As long as you need to work on skills that are specific to bringing home a new puppy (nipping, potty training, crate & sleep training, etc.), this course is for you! *If your dog is over 6 months, ask us about our Online Training Classroom for Dogs or Private Training options. |
Myth #3I don't need help, can just find all the information I need on the internet!
Spoiler Alert! It's true, the internet is a goldmine of information. But unfortunately, so much information online regarding dog training is conflicting and that just makes things super confusing. Why shouldn't I go to a big name pet store for training? |
Most trainers are focused on basic obedience, which is an important component to training--but just that-- one component. We take a relationship based approach to build communication systems between dog & human, focus on teaching calm & relaxation--something that is very often overlooked, as well as troubleshooting puppy issues and teaching obedience, handling, and more!
You would have to take multiple training programs at a big box pet store to even scratch the surface of the information you get in The Puppy Basics Course. (Trust me...I've been there, and done that 😉) |

How long does the course last? I'm so overwhelmed already!

The homework is designed for you to learn all of this information in four weeks, but that doesn't mean you have to do it in 4 weeks! You will have access to the course for life, so you can jump on it and immediately implement change, or you can take your time and go at your own pace! Dogs all learn at different paces, just like humans, so sometimes slower is better!

Will you be there to help me through the process?

Yes! I will be active in the course to answer questions, review videos, and give feedback regularly! If you want extra handholding, you can upgrade to our VIP Program to add weekly virtual sessions! This will give us the opportunity to work closely together and troubleshoot more specifically.

I'm in! What do I need to buy to get started?
|
You won't need much beyond the basics-- a puppy (but you can get started without!), a leash & collar or slip lead, a dog bed, a brush, nail trimmers, toys, and their food or teeny training treats! You might decide to upgrade some gear, like getting an elevated pet cot to teach place, but it is not a requirement!

How much time will I need to spend training my dog everyday?
|
Training doesn't have to take extra hours out of your day that you already don't have. I will help you restructure the time you are already spending with your dog & make training more of a lifestyle than a daily chore. When teaching new skills like sit, down, or place, I recommend no more than 5 minutes at a time 2-4 times daily!

Can I sign up for the VIP Program if I'm not local?

Absolutely, this training program has no borders! As long as you speak English and have wifi, we can set up Zoom training sessions to work one-on-one!
