Meet Owner/Head Trainer, Kayla Reilly

Hi! I’m Kayla, owner and head trainer of Everywhere Dog. Thank you for stopping by our website! My mission as a family dog trainer is to provide training tools and knowledge to allow you to communicate most effectively with your dog and get the results that your entire family needs!

My training experience began at a young age, when I got my first dog, and later, rabbits. Reading books and doing my own (internet-less) research allowed me to train my dog, and litter and trick train my rabbits (yes, it is possible! Ask me how!).

My interest in training never died, but took a pause while I studied for a Psychology and Organizational Communication degree at LaSalle University, and picked up midway through my Masters program at Purdue University.

In 2015, I found balanced training while looking for alternative training method for my sweet but ultra-stubborn and high energy Boxer, Lainey. While our traditional chain-store training helped get the basics down, I knew that in order to have a dog that would listen to me in the distracting situations where it counted the most, we needed to kick it up a notch.
Balanced training was just what we needed! Shortly after starting with balanced training, Lainey was off-leash trained, no longer jumping over the couch, and learned how to be calm in and out of the house. It was amazing! Working with Lainey was something that I loved so much, that it became clear to me that so many people could benefit greatly from what I had learned while working with her, and so many dogs can benefit from the inclusion that good training can bring! After working with hundreds of families and their dogs, this benefit is clearer (and more achievable) than ever.

Whether your goals are to keep your dog calm inside your home, or take your dog on every adventure you can imagine, Everywhere Dog can get you there! If you are ready to begin a training program, click the link below and fill out our questionnaire. We will get back to you within 48 hours!

Lainey is my 5 year old boxer that came home to me at 12 weeks old. She’s the one I thank every day for showing me the path I was meant to take. A super sweet, but formerly dog reactive dog, Lainey is the truest example of an “Everywhere Dog.” She certainly wasn’t the perfect puppy, but she’s become a pretty close to perfect dog. She loves our board and train clients, and is instrumental to our training program. She helps to model good behavior for our clients and help them along their learning process! She’s also ALWAYS up for a play date, a hike, or a training session with our client pooches and loves to show them the ropes!

Ollie is about 13 years old*, and is a Chocolate Lab from field lines. Adopted by my husband at 7 months, he didn’t come into my life until 2018. Ollie is the sweetest, silliest, happiest boy ever. He’s a friend to every dog that comes through our doors. Ollie has been retired from long walks and hikes, but still loves to hang out with our client dogs in the play yard, sit next to them while they practice “place” and work as a distraction to test their skills. Ollie loves everyone (unless you’re a duck, then he just loves to chase you) and is super helpful for socializing puppies and adult dogs in our program.

*Ollie passed away in July of 2020 and we miss that sweet face every single day.

Lulu (or Louise when she’s in trouble) was basically raised by wolves. She came home with me at 8 weeks old and her first and best friend was Lainey. We’re pretty sure she doesn’t know she isn’t a dog. Lulu loves socials in the play yard, walks by the river, and hanging out on place with or without our client dogs. For many clients that come through our doors, Lulu is the first cat that they’ve been up close to…and she’s the perfect one for the job! This girl is the master of teaching impulse control, socializing dogs, and an amazing part of our board and train process. Every good dog needs a kitty BFF!

Kona is the newest member of our family! Born on May 1, 2020, Kona is our pheasant hunting and family dog in training! This little Field Lab girl is learning to be the perfect dog, inside the house and out in the field. Kona is our Puppy Jumpstart Day Camp Ambassador, helping all of our new puppy friends learn socialize, understand basic commands, make tons of demonstration videos for our fellow puppy owners! Kona won't have much interaction with our adult dogs in training for a little while, but once she's older, she will make a great training sidekick, just like her furry siblings!

Training Methodology

Everywhere Dog uses a balanced approach to train our dogs: a combination of positive reinforcement and fair, appropriate corrections. The tools selected are dependent on the dog and the goals of the family, but most of our clients excel with prong collar and/or e-collar training! (Visit our FAQ and Facebook pages to learn more!) While some dogs may respond well to positive reinforcement, solely, many dogs find the prospect of food-based rewards overly exciting, making it difficult for them to retain a calm, centered state of mind.

Using proper tools and consistency, your dog can be trained to be trusted off-leash, will be able to maintain a relaxed calm "place" command for hours, and will come when called the first time, every time.
