"Diet starts Monday." How many times have you heard this? Translate to: things are starting to get out of control again, so now we need to start from the beginning until things are back under control. Sure, diets can work, but most people don't see long-term changes by following a "diet." They see long-term changes by changing their lifestyle. Dog training is a lifestyle.
Dog OWNERSHIP is a lifestyle. If you want a well behaved dog, and your dog wasn't born a miracle puppy (news flash: most dogs are not!) you need to COMMIT to lifestyle changes. You need to commit to a set of rules to keep behavior where you want it. These don't have to be the same rules that I have in my house, or that any other dog owner has, but they need to be rules that work for YOU and YOUR dog. Consistency is key, and lack of consistency leads to confusion, anxiety, and behavioral issues. If you don't want to keep having to start over, stop giving in and giving up.
